英検英作文 語彙力で差をつける！ 接頭語(Prefixes)をマスターしてスコアアップ

英検のライティング「いつも同じ単語ばかり使ってしまう」と悩んでいませんか？

実は、単語の頭につく接頭語を覚えるだけで、表現の幅は劇的に広がります。

「超過・凌駕」を表わす接頭語：out- / over- 　

"out-", "over-" は、「～を上回る」「～しすぎる」という意味を付け加えます。

例えば、

・outweigh = 「～を上回る」：利点と欠点を比較する際に必須の単語です。

・overconsume = 「消費しすぎる」：環境問題や経済トピックで重宝します。

例文：

・Cost / Technology 関連のトピックを想定して、

The long-term benefits of investing in new technology outweigh the initial costs.

「新しい技術への投資による長期的な利益は、初期費用を上回る」

・The environment 関連のトピックを想定して、

If we continue to overconsume natural resources, future generation will face serious shortages.

「共同・相互」を表わす接頭語：inter- / co-

"inter-", "co-" は、「～の間の」「共に」という意味を付け加えます。

例えば、

・interconnect = 「相互に連関する」：IT やグローバル化の文脈で使えます。

・coexist = 「共存する」：環境保護の文脈で非常に有効です。

・The environment 関連のトピックを想定して、

「否定・反対」を表わす接頭語：dis- / un- / mis-

"dis-", "un-", "mis-" は、「否定」や「誤った」という意味を付け加えます。

例えば、

・disadvantage = 「不利益、デメリット」

・unprecedented = 「前例のない」：テクノロジーの進化を語る際に便利です。

・misuse = 「誤用、悪用」

練習問題の解答と解説

① outweigh：「A is more important than B」を「A outweigh B」とすれば、一気にアカデミックな文章になります。

英検準1級以上のライティングでは必須の表現です。

② renewable：「energy that can be used again」を「renewable energy」と簡潔に表現しています。

環境問題のトピックで、この単語を使わない手はありません。

③ mislead：「lead in the wrong direction」を「mislead」1語で表現できます。

false information などの負の側面を述べる際に非常に便利な語彙です。

接頭語で伝わる英作文へ。　まとめ

接頭語をマスターすると、難しい説明をダラダラ書かなくても、一言でスマートに意見を伝えることができます。
